Welcome Back!

Welcome Falgarwood Families,

We hope everyone had a wonderful summer.  Welcome back to all of our returning families and a warm welcome to everyone who is new to the Falgarwood community. We are looking forward to teaching and learning together with your children.

We welcome new families to “Coffee in the library” from 9:30-10:15 on the first day of school (September 4th), you will find some members of our school council here alongside the administration team. This is a great opportunity to meet other new parents joining Falgarwood. 

Drop off

A reminder to everyone that we typically see a lot of traffic during the first week of school and anticipate that the school parking lot will be full. Please be aware that the parking lot is reserved for staff and school buses only. Please use the “Drop Zone” when dropping students off at school. If you are walking your child to the playground or kindergarten doors, you will need to arrive early enough to find a parking spot on the street, where permitted. All students are asked to walk around the school to their designated area and refrain from walking through the front parking lot for the safety of our children

Please reassure your children that we will get them to where they need to be. All they need to do is to get here. Whether your child is taking the bus, walking, riding a bike, or being dropped off, our staff members will direct them to where they need to be. Teachers will be at the back and side of the school holding a clipboard with their class number attached. They will also
have class lists with them.

School Hours

9:10 – 9:25 am – Supervision begins

9:25 – 10:25 am Period 1

10:25 – 11:25 am Period 2

11:25am – 12:05 pm Nutrition Break 1

12:05 – 1:05 pm Period 3

1:05 – 2:05 pm Period 4

2:05 –2:45 pm Nutrition Break 2

2:45- 3:45 pm Period 5

3:45 – 4:00 pm Supervision ends

Blacktop Supervision:  Before school supervision is from 9:10 – 9:25 am (students can begin arriving at 9:10 am and will gather at their classroom entry door).

Afterschool Supervision is 3:45 – 4:00 pm

Busing Information

Haltonbus.ca provides information on school bus delays/cancellations. This can be found on their homepage. 

You do not need to have an account to view this general information. You will need to search for the bussing information based on your child's route#. Note - along with any delay information, the name of the bus company and their tel# is provided.

You can also contact HSTS (Halton Student Transportation Services) directly.  Their contact information can be found on haltonbus.ca 

To get email alerts specific to your child, you will need to set up an account on haltonbus.ca.

Personal Electronic Devices

Aligning our school guidelines with PPM 128, students in Kindergarten to Grade 6 will now be required to keep phones on silent and out of sight for the duration of the school day.  Grade 7 and 8, cell phones can remain with the student, however their use will only be permitted during instructional time if explicitly allowed by the educator. 

This is aligned with the current HDSB Technology & You Guidelines 

Our Well-being team will update  Our Falgarwood Mobile Agreements.pdf  to ensure it aligns with PPM 128. 

Tomorrow afternoon you will be receiving an email with your child/children's teachers name. Please know that staff have worked together to create the best possible experience for your child/children for the upcoming school year.
