  • Registration for the French Immersion Registration for the French Immersion program is open to all Grade 1 students and will begin on Friday, Dec. 7, 2018.   The deadline for submitting your registration form is Thursday, Jan. 31, 2019 at 4 p.m.  No registrations will be accepted after this date. Please be sure to visit the hdsb.ca website for more details and registration forms.

  • Stay Safe & Warm Stay Safe: With it getting dark earlier after school, it is always a good idea to have students walking home in pairs or small groups. Stay Warm: Please ensure your child is dressed each day to play outside at recess time including boots, hat, and mittens.

  • Winter Concert The Falgarwood Winter Concert will take place Wednesday December 5th with an open concert at 11:45 am and a ticketed evening show at 6:30 pm.  The concert will feature approximately 130 students who participate in the grade 7 and 8 concert band, the grade 6 concert band, the Falgarwood intermediate choir and Primary Junior choir.

  • Water Bottles for Sale The Environmental Team at our school is selling reusable water bottles to encourage a reusable water source and to fund-raise for upcoming Eco events.   • Wasteless Wednesday Falgarwood is introducing Wasteless Wednesdays.  Our goal is to encourage litterless lunches and reduce the overall amount of waste produced as a school.  Children are encouraged to place their organic waste in the green bins and their recyclables in the blue bins, along with minimizing the amount of waste they bring in their lunch, by using re-usable containers.  Thank you for your continued support in making our school a greener place!

  • Volunteers Needed A "Volunteer Registration Form" was included in the start-up package distributed last week.  We are particularly in need of volunteers to assist with Pizza Days. Please see the job descriptions below and let us know if you can assist with either role.  Our "Pizza Days" cannot run without volunteers.Pizza Lunch Volunteer Coordinator- The coordinator would recruit, firm up volunteers and organize reminders so that the school's Pizza Lunches have at least 4 volunteers (ideally 6) each Tuesday from 12:45 to 2:00 p.m. The coordinator does not have to be at the lunches.   • Prescribed Medication Forms 1 & 2 (Parent & Dr. Signatures required) A reminder to parents that any prescribed medication (e.g., EpiPen, puffer, antibiotics) that a student is required to take during the school day, must be accompanied by "form 1" and "form 2" which require both a parent and prescribing Regulated Health Care Provider (e.g., physician) signatures. Families are encouraged to visit their Health Care Provider prior to the start of school to ensure all forms are completed for the first day of school.

  • Supporting Students with Prevalent Medical Conditions - Please book your plan of care meeting Earlier this year, the Ministry of Education released Policy Program Memorandum 161: Supporting Students with Prevalent Medical Conditions. School Boards across Ontario are expected to implement PPM 161 by September 2018. As a result, the HDSB has updated several Administrative Procedures to better support students who have Anaphylaxis, Asthma, Diabetes, Epilepsy and Seizure Disorders. With the revised HDSB procedures, students who have any of the listed prevalent medical conditions, must have a Plan of Care in place.
