  • Volunteering - Criminal Background Check Reminder to Parents regarding Volunteering at Falgarwood Public SchoolIf you are new to the school and interested in volunteering you must obtain a criminal background check and provide to the school office. you are an existing volunteer with a criminal background check on file you are required to complete an annual offense declaration to continue to volunteer in the school.  The form can be found at:

  • Volunteers Needed A "Volunteer Registration Form" was included in the start-up package distributed last week.  We are particularly in need of volunteers to assist with Pizza Days. Please see the job descriptions below and let us know if you can assist with either role.  Our "Pizza Days" cannot run without volunteers.Pizza Lunch Volunteer Coordinator- The coordinator would recruit, firm up volunteers and organize reminders so that the school's Pizza Lunches have at least 4 volunteers (ideally 6) each Tuesday from 12:45 to 2:00 p.m. The coordinator does not have to be at the lunches.   • Class Placement - Attached Class lists will be posted today at 4:00 pm on the front doors of the school and here on our website. You will need your child's Ontario Education Number (OEN), found on their report card. Students who do not yet have an assigned OEN will receive their class placement on Tuesday morning.   • First Day Information - Welcome Back Falcons! Dear Falgarwood Parents/Guardians: We hope everyone is continuing to have a wonderful summer. We look forward to seeing everyone on Tuesday, September 4. Grade 1-8 students will meet their teachers on the blacktop behind the school. Additional staff will be outside to assist students who may not know which class they are in or are having difficulty locating their teacher.School starts at 9:15am and ends at 3:45pm. Please note that supervision on the blacktop begins at 9:00am. Students receive two nutrition breaks throughout the day.   • Welcome to Falgarwood Kindergarten! We are excited to welcome your family to our school! The first day of school is Tuesday, September 4. You and your child will enter the kindergarten doors (red number 20) facing Grosvenor Street between 9:00 and 9:15. When you enter door 20, the class lists will be posted on the bulletin board to the left in the foyer. Please note your child's room number on the bulletin board. If you have your child's OEN number (available on last year's report card) you will be able to access our class lists on the front door of the school on Friday August 31.   • Prescribed Medication Forms 1 & 2 (Parent & Dr. Signatures required) A reminder to parents that any prescribed medication (e.g., EpiPen, puffer, antibiotics) that a student is required to take during the school day, must be accompanied by "form 1" and "form 2" which require both a parent and prescribing Regulated Health Care Provider (e.g., physician) signatures. Families are encouraged to visit their Health Care Provider prior to the start of school to ensure all forms are completed for the first day of school.

  • Supporting Students with Prevalent Medical Conditions - Please book your plan of care meeting Earlier this year, the Ministry of Education released Policy Program Memorandum 161: Supporting Students with Prevalent Medical Conditions. School Boards across Ontario are expected to implement PPM 161 by September 2018. As a result, the HDSB has updated several Administrative Procedures to better support students who have Anaphylaxis, Asthma, Diabetes, Epilepsy and Seizure Disorders. With the revised HDSB procedures, students who have any of the listed prevalent medical conditions, must have a Plan of Care in place. Did you know the Halton Learning Foundation (HLF) is a charity specifically established to help HDSB schools and the approximately 1 in 10 students who are considered financially vulnerable?   • Grade 8 Celebration - Tuesday, June 26th Grade 8 Celebration - Tuesday, June 26th.  Please be aware that all additional ticket requests, beyond the three assigned tickets, have been accommodated.  Ticket packages will be given to each student following the dress rehearsal, which takes place during periods 1 and 2, on June 26th.  There will be an opportunity for a photo shoot at 5:30 p.m. and the official ceremony will begin at 6:00 p.m. at St. Volodymyr Cultural Centre, 1280 Dundas Street.We look forward to sharing this special occasion with you.

  • Cake Walk - Calling All Bakers! Calling all Falgarwood Bakers!!  We are looking for donations of cupcakes, brownies, squares, cookies and/or cakes for the Cake Walk at this year’s FUN FAIR.  The Cake Walk game is a favourite among our students; they all love having the chance to win delicious treats!   • Moving over the summer? In order to keep our records current, it is greatly appreciated if you could inform the school office if you are planning to move and your children will NOT be attending Falgarwood in the fall. Please inform the office as soon as possible, as we need to know numbers for our school organization in September. A reminder that if you have a child who will be entering our Junior Kindergarten or new to Senior Kindergarten classes, and have not had a chance to register, or know of a family with a JK or SK child who has not yet registered for September, please call the school to make registration arrangements before the end of June.
