School Council

Following a rewrite of the School Council’s Bylaws last year and a change in the election process this year’s election was very different. All parents had the opportunity to come to the school and cast their votes for 11 of the candidates. This straightforward process certainly ran smoothly. This year we are pleased to announce the executive and voting members: Elaine McKinnon and Niki Jandrew– Co-chairs, Gurgit Bhartt – Treasurer, Jennifer Moore – Secretary, Jannice Billau, Lisa Booth, Nancy Coates, Tracey Goodwin, Robert McGeachy, Gabriella Szucs Filler, and Cristin Walsh.
Thank you for the all the hard work and dedication of last year’s council. We would like to continue to build on the success of last year’s efforts. We look forward to an equally successful year.
Our first meeting was devoted to determining a clear focus for the council. It was decided the two main areas of concentration this year will be fundraising and parent involvement/communications. We have formed two committees to further develop a strategy for the coming year. If you are interested in joining one of these committees please contact the school.
Again one of our goals is to promote increased communication with our parent community. We want to keep you connected with what we are doing and planning, and to get your input around important school issues and initiatives. We welcome all parents to council and committee meetings. Council meetings are generally held on the first Monday of each month, in the Library at 7:00 pm. Dates and times are confirmed in each month’s newsletter, with the next meeting scheduled for November 2nd. Come and contribute your ideas!
